- MEA Bargaining Conference 2017
- Feb 2nd and 3rd we have 9 people are attending (executive board members will represent for us)
- Legacy Scholarship
- Offer 3 scholarships (1 per HS) 1- $1500 scholarship who expresses an interest in going into education.
- Governance Documents – Status Update
- Our constitution and bylaws were up today to be approved more to come soon
- MEA Region 7- Candidates’ Night- Thursday, March 23
- Officers for MEA terms are coming to a close this year. VP and PRES are not running again. The only people that vote are MEA RA delegates they represent the entire MEA. This night will be for any member in Region 7 to hear the candidates. If you are interested in attending, please email Daryl. WE can take 30 people to the Region meeting.
- Seniority List
- Check that you are on the list accurately. Please contact Daryl with changes. The days worked is the days’ work at the end of 2017. This is for the possibility of layoffs so the days are frontloaded on this list.
- Upcoming Dates per Master Agreement
- Check email for DEADLINE REQUEST DATES: Must be in the form of a letter (cc Daryl) Feb1: Sabbatical/ Feb 10: Share Time/ March 1: Transfer/ PT to Full / Come back from Leave/ Early Retirement ($500 )
- Extension of Article XVII – Rights of the Association
- Perusing extending this article to June 2023. Talks about President of WLEA, union release time for bargaining. This is in case the senate bills come back to life to protect some of our negotiated items.

- HB4085: GOOD NEWS: Sponsored by REP (WOW) count PD as instructional time
- HB 4084 Eliminate the 3 credit Reading Class for professional cert
- 3rd GRADE READING LAW: See handout green box lays out points of interest
- Currently WL does not have a plan. This effect K-1-2 NOW will be subject to this law
Negotiations
- Our contract expires end of this year. No set date for bargaining. Wear red TUESDAY
- Grievance- 2016-17 #1 RESOLVED
- Filed before school started. Re; Staffing of counselors at Northern. They increased FTE and compensation for those covering for lack of FTE. Good result.

- NO SUNSHINE ACADEMY THIS SUMMER (No Title I money for this)
- Invisible Dad at Keith is giving all kids that do not have lunch a lunch provided by him (trying to get this in other buildings)
